Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized the Opposition, highlighting past actions during the Congress era like the 1975 Emergency. He defended current committee-based selections for government agencies, emphasizing that the public will comprehend as “people of India are not fools.”
Rijiju launched a strong attack on the Opposition, accusing them of targeting government agencies, the Election Commission, media, and the judiciary. He asserted that these actions are undermining the core of Indian democracy.
The Election Commission of India announced a fresh election in all polling stations of the Falta Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district due to severe electoral offenses during the second phase of polling on April 29. Counting of votes in 293 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal will occur on May 4, excluding Falta.
Rijiju expressed confidence that the people of India will respond appropriately to the opposition’s criticisms. He warned that attacking government institutions like the Election Commission, media, and judiciary is an assault on Indian democracy, and the public will deliver a fitting response.
