Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal praised Tripura’s advancement under PM Modi’s leadership, crediting improvements in connectivity, infrastructure, governance, and economic opportunities over the past decade. During his visit to Tripura, Sonowal engaged in various programs marking 12 years of the Modi-led government, emphasizing the state’s significant role in the Northeast’s development journey.
Sonowal commended the Modi government’s focus on transparency, technology-driven governance, and citizen-centric policies during the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan’. He highlighted Tripura’s enhanced integration with national and international markets through developments in roads, railways, digital connectivity, and public infrastructure, noting the state’s progress towards growth and prosperity.
The Union Minister underscored Tripura’s agricultural success, particularly the renowned Queen pineapple, attributing it to improved connectivity and market access. He also mentioned the government’s initiatives empowering women and youth through welfare schemes, entrepreneurship programs, and skill development, emphasizing their crucial roles in India’s development journey.
Sonowal discussed the Northeast’s transformation from a peripheral region to a strategic growth center, recognizing its significance as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia. He lauded the region’s economic potential unlocked by enhanced connectivity, peace agreements, infrastructure investments, and people-centric governance, positioning the Northeast as a key driver of India’s economic growth.
Reviewing the construction of a high-rise office complex in Agartala during the Pragati Path Yatra, Sonowal highlighted the project’s aim to enhance administrative efficiency and public service delivery. He also commended Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha for his efforts in accelerating infrastructure development and governance reforms in the state.
