Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the ‘Grih Pravesh’ of more than five lakh completed houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in Maharashtra’s Satara district. The event, scheduled at the Sainik School Ground in Satara, will witness the distribution of house keys to six PMAY-G beneficiaries, including the recipient linked to the completion of the 3 croreth house under the scheme. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Sunetra Ajit Pawar, senior government officials, and beneficiaries will also be present.
On this occasion, the Union Minister will release PMAY-G Mother Sanction, providing central assistance worth Rs 8,368.50 crore for Maharashtra for the financial year 2026-27. Additionally, approvals for 35 road projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-IV will be announced, benefiting 35 rural habitations in the state. State-level awards under the “Maha Awaas Abhiyan 2023-24” will also be distributed during the program.
The Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) is a significant scheme of the Central Government aimed at offering pucca houses with basic amenities to eligible rural households. The Government of India has allocated a cumulative target of 4.15 crore houses to States and Union Territories under PMAY-G, with 3.91 crore houses sanctioned and over 3.03 crore houses completed as of May 11, 2026. In Maharashtra, 41.42 lakh houses have been sanctioned against a target of 43.80 lakh, with 17.92 lakh already completed. Satara district alone has seen 24,848 completed houses out of 54,759 sanctioned houses.
The PMGSY-IV projects in Maharashtra, covering nearly 96 km, aim to enhance all-weather rural connectivity and access to healthcare, education, markets, and public services. The state has sanctioned over 34,000 km of rural roads and more than 1,000 bridges under PMGSY, with investments exceeding Rs 15,000 crore.
