Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil is set to lead discussions on water and flood management projects as well as the ‘Catch The Rain Campaign’ during a meeting with top officials of Water Resources Departments from states and Union Territories. The discussions will take place at the All-India Conference of Senior Most Secretaries of Water Resources Departments at Chanakya Hall in Sushma Swaraj Bhawan. This conference is part of the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s ongoing efforts to improve water resources management through policy coordination and community participation in water conservation.
The aim of the conference is to enhance coordination between the Centre and states on key initiatives in the Water Resources sector and to review the progress of major national programs under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. Among the topics to be discussed will be the Special One-Month Nationwide #CatchTheRain Campaign, which aims to boost public involvement in water conservation efforts. The event is being organized by the River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation department under the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Department of Water Resources.
In addition to Minister Paatil, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Choudhary and V.L. Kantha Rao from the River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation department will also participate in the conference. Senior officials from Water Resources Departments of all states and Union Territories, as well as various organizations under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, will attend the conference. Discussions will focus on key agenda items such as the Modernisation of Command Area Development and Water Management Scheme, the Catch The Rain Campaign, and Project Appraisal Guidelines for irrigation and flood management projects.
The conference will also address issues like the Rule Curves of Dam Reservoirs, the State Water Reforms Framework, and the Comprehensive Dam Safety Evaluation under the Dam Safety Act, 2021. Furthermore, discussions will cover the Progress of Irrigation Censuses and the Framework for Model State Water Awards. This platform will provide states and Union Territories with an opportunity to exchange experiences, address challenges, and develop coordinated strategies to drive reforms in the water sector.
