Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav has requested the Central government to honor the 150th Prakat Din of Sant Gajanan Maharaj by issuing a Rs 150 commemorative coin and a postage stamp. The 150th Prakat Din of Sant Gajanan Maharaj is set to be celebrated on February 17, 2028, signifying a significant spiritual and cultural event for devotees nationwide.
Jadhav has written to Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, urging them to consider the proposal and provide necessary directives to the relevant authorities. He emphasized the revered status of Sant Gajanan Maharaj in Maharashtra and India’s spiritual and cultural heritage, noting the saint’s initial appearance in Shegaon in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district in February 1878.
The letters underscored the enduring influence of Sant Gajanan Maharaj’s life and teachings, which promote spirituality, devotion, compassion, selfless service, and human welfare. Jadhav highlighted the role of Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan, Shegaon, in education, healthcare, rural development, social welfare, and humanitarian service, solidifying Shegaon’s reputation as a hub of spiritual and community initiatives.
The proposed initiative aims to pay a national tribute to Sant Gajanan Maharaj, honoring the beliefs and emotions of countless devotees inspired by his legacy. Jadhav also recalled the President of India’s visit to Shegaon in February 2026 to inaugurate the National Arogya Fair, emphasizing Shegaon’s significance as a center of spirituality, culture, and public service. The Minister expressed optimism that the proposal would be positively received, acknowledging the enduring spiritual and cultural heritage of Sant Gajanan Maharaj.
