Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has instructed mining and exploration agencies to expedite pending projects to enhance India’s mineral security and strategic growth. Emphasizing the importance of technology, transparency, and efficiency, the Minister called for a mission-mode approach during high-level review meetings in Bengaluru with key officials from various organizations. The focus of the meetings was on advancing mineral exploration, boosting scientific capabilities, promoting sustainable mining practices, and aligning efforts with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The Minister, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, highlighted India’s journey towards self-reliance and global competitiveness. He underscored the pivotal role of the mining and exploration sector in ensuring India’s future growth, industrial expansion, and strategic mineral security. Stressing the significance of technology-driven systems, including AI and remote sensing, the Minister urged institutions to lead the transformation for a future-ready and resource-secure India.
Organizations like the Geological Survey of India, National Institute of Rock Mechanics, Indian Bureau of Mines, and the Remote Sensing and Aerial Survey division provided updates on resource augmentation, mineral targeting, scientific surveys, mine sustainability, and geospatial technologies. They also outlined advanced exploration systems being implemented to bolster India’s mineral security and strategic growth objectives.
