Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s request for a Rajya Sabha seat from the BJP has been contradicted by his son, Santosh Kumar Suman, who leads the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM). Manjhi had previously warned that if the BJP did not allocate a Rajya Sabha seat to his party, HAM might consider exiting the NDA alliance. He claimed that the BJP had assured a Rajya Sabha seat during the Lok Sabha elections but reneged on the promise.
Suman, in response to his father’s stance, dismissed the idea of making public demands for a Rajya Sabha seat. He stressed that such matters should be resolved internally through discussions and understanding within the alliance, rather than through public statements. Suman emphasized that decisions on seat-sharing are made collectively among alliance partners, not based on individual assertions.
The differing views expressed by Jitan Ram Manjhi and Santosh Kumar Suman have sparked political debates, raising concerns about potential discord within the HAM, particularly between father and son. Past reports had also hinted at similar disagreements during the Bihar Assembly elections. Observers are now keenly observing how the HAM leadership navigates internal differences while upholding its position within the NDA alliance.
