Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated several significant railway projects in western Rajasthan during his visit to Jodhpur. The projects aim to enhance rail connectivity, passenger amenities, and tourism in the region. Notable announcements included the expansion of the Jodhpur–Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat Express and the extension of the Sabarmati–Jodhpur Superfast Express to Jaisalmer.
The event witnessed the presence of Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. A key highlight was the expansion of the Jodhpur–Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat Express, increasing passenger capacity from 530 to 1,440 seats. This expansion is expected to alleviate long waiting lists on the busy Delhi route, with the train now comprising 16 coaches with varying seat capacities.
Additionally, a modern Coach Care Complex was inaugurated at Jaisalmer Railway Station through video conferencing. This facility will offer advanced train cleaning and maintenance services in Jaisalmer, enhancing operational efficiency and promoting tourism in the desert city. The extension of the Sabarmati–Jodhpur Superfast Express to Jaisalmer was also announced, strengthening rail connectivity between Gujarat and western Rajasthan.
Union Minister Vaishnaw approved the development of a mega coaching terminal at Bhagat Ki Kothi Railway Station, with plans for Phase-II of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Maintenance Depot and a railway training center. Furthermore, the maximum permissible speed on the Jodhpur–Luni–Marwar Junction rail section will be increased to 130 kmph. Vaishnaw later flagged off the new Bhuj–Delhi Express in Jalore, with the event attended by various public representatives and railway officials.
