Lucknow’s Hazratganj Police, following Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath’s instructions, has registered an FIR against the upcoming web series “Ghoooskhor Pandat.” Allegations suggest that the series may disrupt social harmony and offend religious and caste sentiments. This has sparked anger among the Brahmin community and various social groups, leading to warnings of potential protests.
Legal actions and investigations are in progress due to the gravity of the situation. Stringent measures are anticipated against anyone aiming to harm community sentiments or disturb peace under a zero-tolerance policy. Actor Manoj Bajpayee, the project lead, clarified on social media that the series is not targeted at any specific community but focuses on portraying a flawed character’s journey of self-realization.
Acknowledging the concerns raised, Bajpayee emphasized the importance of respecting people’s emotions. The decision to remove promotional material reflects the seriousness with which the makers are addressing these issues. Furthermore, Neeraj Pandey, through Netflix’s publicity team, explained that the term “Pandat” in the series’ title refers to a fictional character and does not symbolize any particular caste, religion, or community. He also expressed regret if the title had inadvertently hurt anyone’s sentiments.
