US Ambassador to India Highlights Strong Partnership with New Delhi

US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, emphasized the close collaboration between Washington and New Delhi across various sectors like trade, defense, and energy. Following a meeting with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in Florida, Gor expressed readiness for enhanced cooperation in the future. The discussions between India and the United States focused on expanding cooperation in energy, critical technologies, and defense, indicating a strengthening strategic alignment.

India and the United States have broadened their cooperation in energy, critical technologies, and defense during the recent meetings between Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and senior US officials. Energy cooperation took center stage during Misri’s engagements, with a notable meeting with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The discussions aimed at advancing energy security, enhancing bilateral energy trade, and exploring new avenues to reinforce the India-US Energy Partnership.

Highlighting the growing collaboration in the energy sector, Gor mentioned India’s recent passage of the SHANTI bill and expressed readiness to cooperate on civil nuclear matters, coal gasification, and US LPG exports. Apart from energy, the talks also delved into emerging technologies and supply chains, indicating a comprehensive dialogue between the two nations.

The engagements between the US and India included discussions on advancing cooperation in critical and emerging technologies, ensuring trusted supply chains, and exploring opportunities for US AI exports. The talks also covered a wide range of bilateral agenda items for the coming year, encompassing high-level engagements and regional developments across trade, technology, defense, and energy sectors.

Defence cooperation was a significant aspect of the discussions, with Gor emphasizing the pivotal role of the US Army and Indian Army in strengthening defense ties. The growing defense cooperation between the two countries was underscored, focusing on discussions related to defense equipment sales, interoperability, and mutual security interests.

The meetings between Indian and US officials underscored the deepening partnership between the two nations, characterized by regular high-level exchanges and expanding cooperation across various sectors. The relationship has been elevated to a Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, encompassing defense, trade, technology, and people-to-people ties. Both countries are intensifying their collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region, emphasizing regional stability, resilient supply chains, and addressing global challenges.
