The US administration has imposed sanctions on 10 entities and individuals from Iran and Venezuela. This action comes as Tehran is accused of providing conventional weapons to Caracas, posing a threat to US interests in the Western Hemisphere, including the US homeland. The US Department of State and the US Department of the Treasury revealed that a Venezuelan company, subject to these sanctions, was engaged in selling Iranian-designed combat unmanned aerial vehicles worth millions of dollars.
US President Donald Trump recently cautioned Iran about potential consequences if it resumes prohibited military activities. Despite this warning, Trump also expressed a willingness to engage in renewed diplomatic talks with Tehran. During a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump stated that if Iran’s actions are confirmed, the repercussions would be significant. He mentioned that intelligence reports indicated Iran might be exploring new locations following previous US attacks.
Trump indicated a readiness for bilateral discussions with Iran, emphasizing his past calls for negotiations to prevent escalating conflicts. He highlighted the importance of limiting Iran’s influence for achieving peace in the broader Middle East region. Trump stressed that allowing Iran to strengthen its presence would hinder the prospects of peace in the area.
