The 4th National Armwrestling & Para Armwrestling Championship has started at Rashtriya Raksha University in Gandhinagar. More than 1,800 athletes from all over India have gathered for this major event. The championship, organized by the Armwrestling Sports Association Gujarat, will span four days from May 30 to June 1, featuring competitions in various categories for both men and women.
Athletes from different states are participating in this championship, which also provides a platform for Pro Panja League stars to compete for national honors. The top two athletes in each category will qualify for the World ArmWrestling & ParaArmwrestling Championship in New Delhi from October 29 to November 7, 2026. Notably, the 90kgs senior men’s category is highly competitive, with Pro Panja League athletes like Denic Lalruattluanaga, Tawheed Shaikh, and others contending for top spots.
Preeti Jhangiani, President of the People’s Armwrestling Federation India (PAFI) and vice president of the Asian Armwrestling Federation (AAF), expressed enthusiasm about the championship’s scale. With over 1,800 athletes participating, she highlighted the sport’s growth and development in India. Jhangiani looks forward to witnessing exceptional performances during the event and mentioned that top athletes will have the opportunity to compete in the World Championships in New Delhi.
