The United States confirmed that its military campaign against Iran has hit more than 2,000 targets, significantly weakening Tehran’s missile and naval capabilities. The White House supported President Donald Trump’s decision to initiate Operation Epic Fury, aimed at eliminating Iran’s missile threat, destroying its naval capacity, and preventing nuclear weapon acquisition.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized the operation’s success under President Trump’s leadership, stating that it had crippled Iran’s ability to endanger US forces and allies in the region. The US forces have targeted over 2,000 locations, destroying numerous ballistic missiles, launchers, and drones.
Leavitt highlighted that the military campaign’s core objectives included destroying Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities, dismantling its naval forces, weakening regional proxy networks, and preventing nuclear weapon development. She noted a significant decrease in Iranian missile attacks since the operation began, with a reduction of 86% from initial levels.
The White House also mentioned the targeting of senior Iranian leadership during the campaign, with 49 top regime leaders, including the supreme leader, eliminated. Leavitt defended these actions as necessary to safeguard the US and its allies, emphasizing the importance of eliminating such threats.
The administration acknowledged the sacrifice of six US service members during the operation, expressing mourning for their loss. President Trump planned to attend the dignified transfer ceremony for the fallen troops, honoring their service and sacrifice. Additionally, efforts were underway to evacuate American citizens from the Middle East amidst the ongoing conflict.
