The US Mint is set to produce a new $1 coin showcasing President Donald Trump in honor of America’s 250 years of independence, as announced by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The coin displays Trump’s portrait on one side, with the word “Liberty” above it and the years 1776-2026 below. Additionally, the coin features the phrase “In God We Trust” alongside Trump’s image, flanked by two stars.
The reverse side of the coin showcases an eagle with outstretched wings, clutching an olive branch and arrows, with a shield bearing the number 250 at its center. Surrounding the eagle are engravings of “United States of America” and “One Dollar,” while the Latin motto “E Pluribus Unum” meaning “Out of many, one” appears above the eagle. Treasury Secretary Bessent emphasized the coin’s significance in celebrating American values and the nation’s commitment to upholding freedom for all.
While the exact release date and quantity of the coins were not disclosed in the announcement, details regarding the coin’s metal composition, circulation status, and availability to collectors were also omitted. The US Mint, responsible for producing both regular and commemorative coins, is launching various coins to mark America’s 250th independence anniversary, including the recently introduced Freedom Ringing — Liberty Bell Gold Coins and Silver Medal.
