US President Donald Trump has declared a 25% tariff on any country engaging in business with Iran, a move denounced by the Congress as “completely inappropriate, unethical, and unacceptable.” Senior Congress leader T.S. Singh Deo criticized Trump’s actions, labeling them as bullying and reflecting a disrespectful attitude towards the global community. The Congress expressed concern over the arbitrary imposition of tariffs by the US President, considering it an unjust and intimidating stance.

Congress’s Uttar Pradesh President Ajay Rai voiced dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s response to the tariff announcement, accusing him of displaying weakness in dealing with Trump. Rai highlighted the need for a stronger stance from India in response to such actions. Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Manoj Kumar Jha characterized Trump’s decision as autocratic, emphasizing the interference in trade relations among nations and the disruption of global balance. Jha called for a more forceful reaction from India against Trump’s measures.

Janata Dal-United leader K.C. Tyagi condemned Trump’s recent actions, denouncing them as undemocratic and imperialistic. Tyagi criticized Trump’s approach as dictatorial and reflective of an imperialist mindset, urging a strong condemnation of such behavior. Trump’s announcement of a 25% tariff on countries trading with Iran has raised concerns about potential disruptions in major US trading relationships worldwide, including with India and China, key trading partners of Iran.
