US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, visited Mother House, the headquarters of Saint Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata during his four-day visit to India. Accompanied by his wife, Jeanette D. Rubio, he spent time at the Missionaries of Charity, interacting with officials and US Ambassador Sergio Gor.
The Missionaries of Charity, established by Mother Teresa in Kolkata, is a Catholic congregation dedicated to aiding the impoverished, sick, and destitute globally. Rubio’s visit to Kolkata marks the first time a US secretary of state has visited the city since Hillary Clinton’s trip in 2012.
During his stay in Kolkata, Rubio also planned to visit the Children’s Home in the city. His India itinerary includes stops in Agra, Jaipur, and New Delhi, with a focus on energy discussions and meetings involving ministers from the Quad nations.
