US President Donald Trump stated that the United States is keeping an eye on Iranian enriched uranium hidden beneath debris, with the US Space Force overseeing the situation. Trump, in an interview with journalist Sharyl Attkisson, emphasized that the US would be aware of any approach to the uranium and would respond forcefully. He mentioned that within two weeks, US forces could target all intended sites in Iran, which he described as already being militarily weakened.
Iran recently responded to a US proposal through mediator Pakistan, focusing on ending the conflict in the region. The proposal suggests negotiations to halt the war, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressing Iran’s commitment to not pursuing nuclear weapons as crucial for a peace agreement. Iran’s counterproposal for talks with the US calls for an immediate halt to hostilities, assurances against future aggression, and the removal of US sanctions and naval blockades.
The proposal also includes a 30-day timeline for lifting US sanctions on Iranian oil sales and the release of Iran’s frozen assets post a preliminary agreement. Following joint US-Israeli strikes on Tehran and other Iranian cities, Iran retaliated with attacks on Israel and US interests, leading to increased tensions in the region, including control over the Strait of Hormuz.
