US President Donald Trump plans to discuss China’s alleged acquisition of American artificial intelligence technology with Chinese President Xi Jinping in their upcoming meeting. The White House emphasized the importance of safeguarding US technological leadership in the global AI race. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted the administration’s commitment to ensuring America’s dominance in AI.

Leavitt mentioned that protecting US interests in AI would be a key priority in future discussions between the two leaders. The administration is closely monitoring reports suggesting that Chinese entities may have inappropriately acquired American AI technology. The White House refrained from discussing potential policy responses but stressed the significance of the issue for economic competitiveness and national security.

The US administration linked its technology agenda to strategic competition with China. Trump’s expansion of the Ratepayer Protection Pledge for AI data centers aims to bolster US leadership in artificial intelligence. The initiative seeks to shift the costs of expanding electricity infrastructure for AI data centers from consumers to utilities, developers, and technology firms.

Trump and Xi are expected to address various issues, including trade, technology, security, and bilateral relations, in their upcoming meeting. The competition for global leadership in artificial intelligence has become a crucial aspect of US-China relations. Both countries are heavily investing in next-generation computing capabilities to secure dominance in the AI sector.
