US Vice President JD Vance has arrived in Switzerland for discussions with Iran. Vance expressed optimism about addressing the nuclear issue and the Lebanon ceasefire during the talks. The meetings are set to take place near Lucerne after a delayed start to the diplomatic process.
Technical negotiators from various parties are already on the ground ahead of the Switzerland talks. Vance emphasized the importance of setting up the negotiations correctly and establishing a framework for future discussions. He acknowledged the challenges of managing the ceasefire in Lebanon amid ongoing clashes between Israel and Hezbollah.
Despite the complexities, Vance highlighted that progress is being made in the region. He credited Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the diplomatic team for their efforts in maintaining stability. The discussions in Switzerland will focus on technical and political aspects of the US-Iran diplomatic track, with Lebanon’s ceasefire situation also on the agenda.
An Iranian delegation has also arrived in Switzerland for the talks. The Swiss foreign ministry welcomed the Iranian delegation’s arrival, noting their journey to the Burgenstock resort as part of the MoU between the US and Iran.
