The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for senior citizens in the state. Through initiatives by the Social Welfare Department, elderly individuals are being taken on trips to religious, cultural, and historical sites to bring joy and positivity into their lives.
In the period from 2022 to 2026, a total of 2,493 senior citizens residing in old-age homes in Uttar Pradesh have participated in these tours. The Social Welfare Department officials mentioned that from 2022-23 to 2025-26, these citizens visited significant places like Prayagraj Mahakumbh, Magh Mela, and Amrit Udyan at Rashtrapati Bhavan, along with regular visits to nearby religious sites.
Recently, 211 elderly citizens from various districts in the NCR zone of Uttar Pradesh enjoyed a special visit to the Amrit Udyan at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. This visit aimed to provide them with a pleasant and inspiring experience, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of the garden.
The government ensured all necessary arrangements for these visits, including transportation, refreshments, security, and other facilities. Additionally, the government facilitated 1,515 senior citizens to take a holy dip during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025 and 767 participants to bathe at the Sangam during the Magh Mela 2026, bringing them spiritual satisfaction and peace.
Regular visits to temples, religious sites, and places of interest are organized for elderly residents of old-age homes across various districts. These outings play a crucial role in maintaining their enthusiasm, reducing loneliness, and fostering a positive outlook on life. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to valuing senior citizens as integral members of society and ensuring their dignity and well-being.
