Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami revealed that he spoke with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta regarding the arrest of Keshav Negi, a cook linked to the Malviya Nagar hotel fire incident. Negi, aged 65, was apprehended following investigations that suggested negligence on his part. The tragic fire at Flourish Stay B&B on June 3 led to 21 fatalities, including 13 foreigners, and numerous injuries.
CM Dhami expressed faith in a fair inquiry, stating that CM Gupta assured him of justice for all based on facts and evidence. He further mentioned extending support to Negi’s daughter, Kanishka Negi, in this challenging time. BJP MP Trivendra Singh Rawat also backed Negi, promising legal aid to ensure a just outcome.
Officials revealed that the hotel, where the fire occurred, was operating beyond its permitted capacity, with only six rooms authorized but over 20 in use. Moreover, the hotel had been functioning for several years without the mandatory No Objection Certificate from the Delhi Fire Services. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, awaiting further developments.
