Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed officials to complete all arrangements for the Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar by October for a successful event. During a meeting at the Secretariat, he emphasized the need for timely completion of construction works with high-quality standards. Dhami stressed that no pending files or projects related to the Mela will be tolerated, holding officials accountable for any delays.
He highlighted the state government’s focus on organizing a grand and visitor-friendly Kumbh Mela that showcases Uttarakhand’s cultural and spiritual heritage. The Chief Minister directed the Public Works Department Secretary to assign technical officers for the event promptly. Additionally, he emphasized the need for thorough audits of all bridges in the Mela area and the beautification of ghats, including Har Ki Pauri, to provide proper facilities for pilgrims.
To ensure a smooth event, a comprehensive sanitation plan with adequate toilets and drinking water at key locations will be implemented. Security measures will include the deployment of forces, water police drones, CCTV cameras, and advanced equipment. Detailed strategies for law and order, parking, and crowd management are being developed to handle the large number of devotees safely.
Dhami also stressed the timely allocation of land to various religious groups and the involvement of saints, organizations, and local communities in the preparation process. An anti-encroachment drive will clear pathways for easy movement during the event. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of resolving forest-related permissions promptly and ensuring visible development works on the ground.
The preparations will include arrangements for accommodation, tent cities, temporary hospitals, ambulances, and medical teams. Dhami described the Kumbh Mela as a significant religious and cultural gathering, urging everyone to contribute to creating positive and memorable experiences for all participants.
