The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra and the Shri Amarnathji Yatra have been halted in Jammu and Kashmir as a precautionary step against unfavorable weather conditions. Authorities have advised pilgrims to refrain from embarking on the pilgrimage until further notice to ensure their safety. Updates on the resumption of the Yatras will be provided in due course.
Anshul Garg, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, announced the temporary suspension of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra from both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes due to adverse weather forecasts. No pilgrims will be allowed to proceed from the Baltal and Nunwan/Chandanwari base camps. The decision to resume the Yatra will be made after evaluating route safety and weather conditions.
During this year’s Shri Amarnathji Yatra, over 3.7 lakh pilgrims have visited the Holy Cave Shrine. The pilgrimage, known as SANJY-2026, began on July 3 and will conclude on August 28, coinciding with the Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan festivals. Pilgrims can access the shrine via the traditional Pahalgam route or the shorter Baltal route.
