The local Meteorological office in Srinagar forecasts a rise in temperatures to 35-36 degrees Celsius in the Valley over the next two days, with a subsequent wet spell expected in J&K. Mukhtar Ahmad, the director of the local Met office, mentioned the likelihood of hot and humid weather with intermittent rain or thundershowers in the region from July 16-18. The weather advisory further predicts partly cloudy conditions on July 19, accompanied by light to moderate rain or thundershowers at various places, particularly in the Jammu division.

The forecast extends to July 20-23, indicating generally cloudy weather with intermittent light to moderate rain or thundershowers in most areas, with peak activity anticipated on July 21 and 22. Heavy rain or intense showers are expected in a few districts of both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions during this period. Moving on to July 24-25, brief spells of rain or thundershowers are anticipated at a few locations. The advisory also warns of potential heavy rainfall or intense showers from July 19 onwards, with a risk of flash floods, landslides, and mudslides in vulnerable areas like the Chenab Valley, Pir Panjal Range, and certain hilly regions of Kashmir.

Additionally, there is a possibility of water logging, minor flooding in low-lying areas, and a significant rise in water levels in rivers, streams, and local water channels, especially in the Jammu division. Farmers are advised to halt all farming activities during July 20-23, and travelers, transporters, tourists, and trekkers are urged to plan their activities accordingly in light of the weather forecast.
