Veteran Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran has urged for a new and unbiased investigation into the suicide of K.K. Maheshan, a former official of SNDP Yogam. Sudheeran, a former Minister and prominent political figure, has forwarded a plea from Maheshan’s wife to Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, emphasizing the need for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the case. Maheshan, who held key positions in SNDP Yogam, tragically died by suicide in 2020.
Sudheeran highlighted that Maheshan’s suicide note, which raised serious allegations of mental harassment and threats, was not adequately addressed by the previous government. The note accused SNDP Yogam President Vellappally Natesan of pressuring Maheshan and implicating him in potential legal issues. Additionally, concerns were raised about alleged financial irregularities within the organization being pinned on Maheshan.
The letter submitted by Sudheeran also mentioned the alleged tampering of another suicide note found on Maheshan, indicating potential interference in the investigation process. Sudheeran criticized the handling of crucial evidence and emphasized the importance of holding accountable those responsible for Maheshan’s distress. He called for a thorough SIT inquiry to ensure justice and prevent any evasion of legal consequences.
