Amid the ongoing violence in Bangladesh, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) National Spokesperson Vinod Bansal expressed concern over the rise of Islamic jihadist extremism in the country. Bansal highlighted the inhumane atrocities faced by Hindus and other non-Muslims, citing the recent brutal murder of Deepu Chandra Das as a grave challenge for global humanity. He criticized the silence of Bangladesh’s government and administration, as well as the lack of condemnation from international bodies like the United Nations.
Bansal also accused extremists in Bangladesh of attacking media houses and Indian embassies, emphasizing the urgent need to address the escalating violence. He expressed disappointment over the alleged lack of response within India to such incidents, calling for opposition leaders to speak out against these atrocities.
In response to the lynching of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das over blasphemy charges, Bangladesh’s interim government’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus announced the arrest of seven suspects by the Rapid Action Battalion. The incident, which occurred at a factory in the Bhaluka upazila, sparked tension after Dipu was accused of making derogatory comments about Islam and Prophet Muhammad.
Former Bangladesh Minister Mohammad Ali Arafat condemned the incident, warning of the country’s increasing radicalism under the current interim government. The violence against minorities, particularly Hindus, has raised concerns among human rights organizations globally.
