Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan criticized the West Bengal government and Trinamool Congress for the controversy surrounding the venue change for the 9th International Santal Conference, where President Droupadi Murmu was the chief guest. He emphasized the need to uphold the dignity and respect due to the office of the President. Radhakrishnan expressed disappointment over any lapses in protocol during the President’s visit to West Bengal.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condemned the treatment of the President during her visit. Shah accused the Trinamool Congress Government of disrespecting the President by disregarding protocol. Modi held the state administration responsible for the incident, stating that it had hurt those who value democratic principles and tribal empowerment. The West Bengal government, under the Trinamool Congress, faced severe criticism from various quarters for its handling of the President’s program.

In response to the backlash, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhisek Banerjee defended the government’s actions through social media statements. Despite the criticisms, the controversy surrounding the President’s visit continues to draw attention and spark debates.
