Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan spoke at the 21st convocation of Kashmir University in Srinagar. Addressing the audience in Kashmiri, he emphasized the importance of unity by saying ‘Hamara Kashmir’ instead of ‘Mera Kashmir’ or ‘Tumhara Kashmir’. Radhakrishnan expressed delight in the achievements of women in leadership roles at the university and highlighted the significant contributions of graduating students to society.
He commended the university’s alumni, which include prominent professionals like high court judges, civil servants, and doctors. Radhakrishnan praised the university’s progress over its 78-year history and encouraged the graduating students to uphold values of patience, courage, and innovation in a rapidly changing world. The Vice President also urged the youth to stay away from drugs and excessive screen time, emphasizing the importance of balance and resilience in facing life’s challenges.
Vice Chancellor Nilofer Khan provided insights into the university’s history and achievements, noting the significant number of degrees and gold medals awarded during the convocation. She highlighted the university’s academic excellence, accreditation, and global reach, showcasing its position as one of the top public universities in India. Khan also mentioned the diverse alumni base, including Padma awardees and professionals from various fields, underscoring the university’s rich legacy of success and recognition.
