Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan is set to embark on a three-day tour of Karnataka, Goa, and Kerala starting Friday. The visit, scheduled from May 29 to 31, will see him participating in official functions as well as religious and cultural festivities.
On May 29, the Vice President will join the global commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the Art of Living Foundation in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Additionally, he will be part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of University BDT College of Engineering in Davangere, Karnataka.
Moving on to May 30, Vice President Radhakrishnan will be involved in the Statehood Day ceremonies of Goa in Panaji. Later in the day, he will tour the CSIR–National Institute of Oceanography in Goa.
Continuing his itinerary, on May 31, the Vice President will pay a visit to the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Manjunatha Swamy Temple. He is also scheduled to inaugurate the SIRI Industrial Park in Belthangady, Karnataka.
Concluding his trip, the Vice President will travel to Kerala to inaugurate the 140th Foundation Anniversary celebrations of Deepika Malayalam Daily in Kottayam. He will also attend a private event organized by C. Sadanandan Master, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), in Kannur.
In a recent development, Vice President Radhakrishnan, in his role as Rajya Sabha Chairman, appointed BJP Member Raghav Chadha as the new Chairman of the Committee on Petitions of the Upper House. This decision followed the reconstitution of the Committee on May 20, with other members including Jebi Mather Hisham, Harsh Mahajan, Gulam Ali, Mayank Kumar Nayak, Masthan Rao Yadav Beedha, Subhasish Khuntia, Rwngwra Narzary, Sandosh Kumar P., and Shambhu Sharan Patel.
Chadha’s significant responsibility came shortly after his transition from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with six other MPs in the Upper House. In a previous move, seven Rajya Sabha MPs from the AAP switched to the BJP, reducing the AAP’s representation in the Upper House from 10 to just three. Following this shift, Chadha met with President Droupadi Murmu to address alleged misuse of state resources by the AAP-led government in Punjab.
