Vietnamese President To Lam has commenced a three-day State Visit to India, arriving in New Delhi on Tuesday. He was warmly welcomed by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai. This visit aims to strengthen the bilateral ties between India and Vietnam.
President To Lam’s visit holds significance as it marks the 10th anniversary of the India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the importance of this visit in enhancing the multifaceted and robust relations between the two countries. President To Lam, also the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will be in India until May 7.
During his stay, President To Lam will receive a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to engage in comprehensive discussions with President To Lam covering various aspects of bilateral relations, regional issues, and global matters of mutual interest. Additionally, President Droupadi Murmu will also have a meeting with the Vietnamese leader, with other dignitaries expected to call on him in New Delhi.
President To Lam’s itinerary includes a visit to Mumbai, where he will tour the National Stock Exchange, meet with the Chief Minister and Governor of Maharashtra, and participate in a business forum. The MEA emphasized the historical and civilizational ties between India and Vietnam, expressing optimism that this visit will invigorate the existing robust bilateral relations and foster new avenues of cooperation.
