In Bihar, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau conducted a raid in Hajipur, catching two Mining Department employees accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The accused, identified as Data Entry Operator Rahul Kumar Roshan and Class IV employee Pramod Kumar, were apprehended during a planned trap operation. The complaint was filed by Rajiv Kumar of Meenakshi Enterprises, alleging demands for bribes in processing a license application.
The trap operation unfolded as the accused accepted chemically treated currency notes from the complainant. Allegations suggest that officials at the mining office sought bribes for application processing. Following a formal complaint, the vigilance team verified the allegations and swiftly arrested the accused during the raid. The action is part of the state government’s anti-corruption efforts within public offices.
DSP Sadanand Singh provided insights into the operation, mentioning that the arrested employees are undergoing intensive interrogation at the Hajipur Circuit House. The incident has caused a stir within the Mining Department, leading to increased scrutiny of officials. Once the interrogation concludes, the accused will face legal proceedings at the Special Vigilance Court in Patna.
