Actor-turned-politician Vijay, speaking at a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally in Salem, criticized the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for the increasing public unrest in Tamil Nadu. He accused the government of losing control over governance and stifling his party’s growth.
Vijay, addressing the crowd, emphasized his commitment to the people of Tamil Nadu, stating that his home is the state and all its residents are his relatives. He questioned Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s leadership, presenting the political battle as a choice between people-centric governance and an indifferent regime.
Challenging established parties, Vijay urged them to begin anew and secure independent support, highlighting TVK’s expanding voter base in the state. He also criticized the timing of the government’s announcement of a Rs 2,000 summer special assistance for women, suggesting it was driven by electoral concerns.
Vijay, referring to TVK’s ‘whistle’ symbol, claimed that the party’s influence was causing unease among the ruling party. He assured women voters that the assistance was a result of his political impact and promised genuine concern from a future TVK government, rather than electoral strategies.
