Congress Legislative Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar voiced strong opposition to various clauses in the ‘Shri Ram Mandir Devasthan Trust Management, Ramtek Bill’ during the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly session. He urged for a comprehensive review by a Joint Committee to safeguard the Ramtek Temple from rushed decisions.
Wadettiwar raised concerns about political interference in religious institutions, emphasizing the importance of protecting sacred sites like the Ramtek Temple. He criticized the inclusion of public representatives and political figures on the temple’s Trust Board, suggesting that it should consist of devout and service-oriented individuals.
Questioning the urgency of passing the legislation on the final day of the Assembly session, Wadettiwar highlighted the smooth functioning of the current court-appointed committee without any mismanagement allegations. He stressed the detrimental impact of introducing politics into temple management on devotees’ faith.
Drawing attention to recent financial irregularities at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Wadettiwar underscored the need for transparency and accountability in handling public donations. He objected to providing financial allowances to Trust members, advocating for a sense of pure devotion and service in serving at Lord Ram’s temple.
