Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) expressed strong disapproval of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly about Sanatan Dharma, deeming them “regrettable.” The VHP demanded the removal of these remarks from the Assembly records. Alok Kumar, the organization’s International President, criticized the statement, questioning if similar comments would be made against other religions.
Alok Kumar raised concerns about political parties and leaders benefiting from Hindu traditions and temples while targeting Sanatan Dharma. He highlighted the irony of those benefiting from Sanatan traditions and temples advocating for their eradication. Kumar emphasized the significant revenue the Tamil Nadu government derives from the state’s temples associated with Sanatan traditions.
The VHP leader called for clarification from Tamil Nadu’s new Chief Minister, C. Vijay, regarding the government’s stance on the issue. Alok Kumar urged for the immediate removal of the “deeply objectionable and divisive statements” from the Assembly records. He emphasized that Sanatan Hinduism is integral to Tamil Nadu and India’s cultural heritage, asserting its enduring influence on society.
