All-rounder Washington Sundar has rejoined the Indian squad ahead of their second ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 match against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Sundar, who last played a month ago during the ODI series against New Zealand, suffered an injury but is now back with the team. In a video shared by the BCCI, Sundar is seen quoting a Tamil film dialogue, expressing his return to the squad.
Sundar expressed his excitement about reuniting with the team and discussed the rigorous training session they had. He mentioned the comprehensive fielding drills, extensive bowling, and batting practice they underwent. Sundar also highlighted his preparation during rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, emphasizing his readiness for the upcoming matches.
The off-spin all-rounder, recovering from a side strain and rib injury, actively participated in fielding exercises and bowled during the practice session. He engaged in discussions with head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar to assess his match fitness. India, after a successful start with a 29-run win against the USA, aims to continue their winning streak against Namibia in the upcoming match.
