A weak low-pressure system over coastal Tamil Nadu is set to impact the state’s weather in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts widespread rainfall and gusty winds in various regions. Moderate rainfall with strong winds is expected in isolated areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Thursday and Friday as per the latest weather bulletin.

The Western Ghats districts are likely to experience moderate rainfall and gusty winds until July 28. Meanwhile, other parts of Tamil Nadu should expect light to moderate rainfall during this period. Rainfall activity is anticipated to be concentrated in the hilly districts along the Western Ghats, with intermittent showers expected.

In areas outside the hilly regions, scattered light to moderate rainfall is forecasted, offering some relief. However, the intensity of rainfall in these regions is expected to be lower compared to the hilly areas. For Chennai, partly cloudy skies are predicted throughout the day with moderate rainfall possible in some places during the evening or night, along with occasional gusty winds.

Despite the anticipated rainfall, temperatures are expected to remain higher than normal in certain parts of Tamil Nadu. The IMD forecasts that maximum temperatures in the interior districts may be up to 3 degrees Celsius above the seasonal average until July 26. Residents in these regions are advised to take precautions against heat stress, especially those involved in outdoor activities.

Meteorologists attribute the current weather pattern to the weak low-pressure system and seasonal atmospheric conditions, which are likely to bring intermittent rainfall across Tamil Nadu in the upcoming days. The public, especially those in the Western Ghats districts, are urged to stay informed about official weather updates as conditions may change, leading to brief heavy rain and gusty winds in isolated areas.
