West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal emphasized that strict measures would be enforced against any disruptions or negligence during the state Assembly polls’ vote counting. Agarwal assured that the counting process would adhere to all regulations and guidelines set forth. He mentioned the importance of ensuring that all counting centers and personnel comply with the prescribed protocols to avoid any issues.
Agarwal highlighted the need for a thorough security protocol in place for the upcoming counting day, stating that the existing measures are deemed adequate. During his visit to Purulia to oversee the preparations at counting centers, Agarwal inspected various aspects such as the strongrooms, counting halls, and the arrangement of tables.
Furthermore, Agarwal clarified that no complaints had been received regarding alleged tampering of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the strongroom. He addressed recent incidents involving political parties at counting centers, emphasizing that such occurrences are not uncommon post-election and reiterated the standard procedures that are followed during the counting process.
