West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari took a strong stance against corruption by suspending two motor-vehicle inspectors accused of soliciting bribes from a truck driver. The inspectors, stationed at Rampur check post in West Burdwan district, allegedly demanded a bribe from the driver despite valid documentation, leading to their suspension.
The state’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has launched an investigation into the matter, emphasizing the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. Chief Minister Adhikari, in a social media statement, highlighted the government’s commitment to eradicating corrupt practices from the administrative system.
The suspended inspectors, identified as Nazimul Haque and Anupam Banerjee, are under scrutiny by the ACB for their alleged involvement in the bribery incident. The Chief Minister has directed strict actions to ensure the release of wrongfully detained vehicles and to prevent harassment of transporters in the future.
Adhikari issued a stern warning through social media, cautioning all officials against engaging in corrupt activities. He emphasized that any proven cases of corruption or misconduct will face severe disciplinary and legal repercussions, underscoring the government’s dedication to upholding transparency and integrity in governance.
