West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari criticized the previous Trinamool Congress government led by Mamata Banerjee for hesitating to participate in crucial central projects, such as the National E-Vidhan Application (NeVA). An MoU was recently signed to introduce NeVA in West Bengal, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “One Nation One Application” initiative. Adhikari emphasized that the state missed out on the advantages of various central schemes due to the former government’s reluctance to engage with them.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju described the NeVA project as a revolutionary digital platform that enables legislatures to function in a paperless, efficient, and transparent manner, enhancing accountability and accessibility. Additionally, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal highlighted that NeVA aims to modernize legislative bodies, making their operations more transparent, efficient, and sustainable. This initiative is seen as a significant step in strengthening parliamentary democracy through technology.
