West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari unveiled a special assistance package worth Rs 313.30 crore for tea garden laborers in the state. The initiative, under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana’ (PMCSPY) scheme, aims to enhance the livelihoods of these workers. The package includes provisions for health, education, and infrastructure development for the tea garden communities.
CM Adhikari highlighted the allocation details, with Rs 177 crore designated for educational enhancements and Rs 72 crore for improving healthcare services in the tea garden regions. Additionally, Rs 63 crore will be utilized to construct 321 resting sheds, featuring modern amenities like solar power, clean water, and hygienic facilities. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of uplifting the living standards of tea garden workers in North Bengal.
The assistance scheme will be overseen by the North Bengal Development Department (NBDD) in collaboration with the State Health Department and other relevant authorities. The project aims to ensure the well-being and prosperity of the tea garden workforce, reflecting the government’s commitment to their comprehensive welfare.
