West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the launch of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana in the state. He emphasized the commitment of the “double-engine government” to ensure that this healthcare initiative benefits all residents without any hindrance. PM Modi, in response, praised the implementation of Ayushman Bharat in West Bengal, highlighting that it offers access to the world’s largest healthcare scheme with quality and affordable medical care.
CM Adhikari, in a post on X, thanked PM Modi for his support, mentioning that the people of West Bengal had long been deprived of such visionary healthcare and welfare programs. With the “Double-Engine” Government now active, the focus is on ensuring the successful delivery of Ayushman Bharat and other central initiatives to every corner of the state, marking a return to progress for West Bengal.
Earlier, PM Modi had expressed his happiness over the extension of Ayushman Bharat to West Bengal, ensuring top-quality and affordable healthcare for the state’s residents. He also highlighted the role of the double-engine Government in facilitating the seamless implementation of crucial central schemes. The move to introduce Ayushman Bharat in the state was announced by the newly appointed Bengal Chief Minister, aiming to provide the benefits of the Centre’s flagship healthcare scheme to the people.
The Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, a part of the broader Ayushman Bharat initiative, is overseen by the National Health Authority under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This initiative is designed to offer cashless hospitalization coverage of Rs 5,00,000 per family annually for secondary and tertiary healthcare services, benefiting poor and vulnerable families. Launched by the Centre in September 2018, the scheme aims to provide health insurance coverage to economically disadvantaged sections of society.
