West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari expressed that the state government’s plan to establish “holding centres” for illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators has caused fear among them. He emphasized the need for these infiltrators to either leave voluntarily or face deportation to Bangladesh. Adhikari justified the government’s actions under the “detect-delete-deport” policy for illegal infiltrators.
At an administrative review meeting in Kalyani, Nadia district, Adhikari highlighted the government’s stance on illegal infiltrators. He clarified that the state’s approach aligns with existing legal provisions and aims to uphold national interests. Adhikari urged infiltrators at the Hakimpur border to leave promptly to avoid deportation.
The Chief Minister underscored that the government will not support illegal infiltrators by providing shelter, food, or employment. Adhikari emphasized the enforcement of laws to address the issue effectively. He reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing existing legal provisions for the benefit of the country and the state.
