The West Bengal government has announced the grant of an ad hoc bonus to civic volunteers serving under both the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police, as well as village police volunteers under the West Bengal Police, for the financial year 2025-26. This bonus increase of a flat sum of Rs 600 was extended to civic volunteers and village police volunteers after a previous announcement on February 27, which raised the ad hoc bonus for government employees.
With this recent announcement, civic volunteers and village police volunteers will now receive Rs 7,400 each, up from the previous Rs 6,800. The state Finance Department had earlier notified that government employees not covered under the ‘Productivity Linked Bonus Scheme’ and meeting specific salary criteria would receive this bonus.
Contractual employees and those with at least six months of service are eligible for this bonus, subject to certain conditions. The payment will adhere to the West Bengal Services (Revision of Pay and Allowances) Rules, 2019, excluding certain allowances like House Rent Allowance and Medical Allowance.
Hours before the formal issuance of the Assembly poll notification for West Bengal on March 15, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had also announced an increase in the monthly honorariums for purohits and muezzins. The monthly honorarium for these individuals has been raised by Rs 500, bringing it to Rs 2,000 per month.
