Kolkata, Aug 1 (IANS) The Second Quarter State-Level Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) Meeting of 2026 for West Bengal discussed strategies to further strengthen coordinated action, with other agencies, against drug trafficking and intelligence sharing, an official said on Saturday.

The West Bengal State-Level JCC meeting was convened by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Kolkata on July 30 to strengthen coordinated action against drug trafficking and reinforce inter-agency collaboration, an NCB statement said.

The meeting was jointly chaired by Deputy Director General (Eastern Region), NCB and Inspector General of West Bengal’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) with participation from Customs Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (Air Intelligence Unit, Preventive and Port), Border Security Force, National Investigation Agency, West Bengal Special Investigation Branch, Income Tax, Drugs Controller, and State Excise.

The meeting commenced with a presentation on the vision document launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, outlining strategic priorities for strengthening coordinated efforts against drug trafficking and dismantling narco-networks, the statement said.

The discussions covered implementation of the vision document on Narcotics Control, emerging drug trafficking trends in West Bengal, monitoring of 50 identified NDPS cases for early disposal, expediting PIT-NDPS proposals, strengthening financial investigations and dismantling organised drug trafficking networks through enhanced coordination.

Participating agencies, including NCB, ANTF, DRI, Kolkata Police, West Bengal Excise and Customs, presented two major recent NDPS cases each, the statement added.

The deliberations focused on traffickers modus operandi, intelligence sharing, financial investigations, inter-agency coordination, and best practices for effective enforcement, it said.

The NCB also gave presentations on red flag indicators of clandestine drug laboratories and the diversion of controlled substances and precursor chemicals, enhancing the operational preparedness of all participating agencies for early detection and coordinated action against emerging narcotics threats.
