West Bengal Chief Minister announced that the census will commence on August 1, attributing the delayed start to the previous government’s inaction. The new state government aims to catch up with other states promptly.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the census will be conducted digitally this time, with officials using a dedicated app for data collection. Emphasizing the importance of the census, he stressed the need to separate politics from this constitutional obligation.
In a bid to bridge the gap, the new government plans to kick off the census exercise from August 1 and continue it until February next year. The Chief Minister underscored the significance of accurate census data for West Bengal, especially concerning border areas.
