West Zone clinched a convincing 143-run victory over North Zone in the inaugural match of the Women’s Zonal T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2026, now known as the Beyond Boundaries Trophy, held at Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, West Zone set a formidable total of 233/5 in 20 overs, with Saloni’s impressive 102 off 46 balls leading the charge. Takhuben Amraji Kukadiya’s 49 runs further bolstered the innings.
North Zone faltered in their chase, getting bowled out for 90 in 14.5 overs, with captain Simu Das top-scoring with 30 runs. Chetnaben Ratbhai Galchar shone with the ball, taking 2/18, while Muskan Gochar and Sushma Patel also made crucial breakthroughs. The tournament, a three-match series, is organized by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), a branch of the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, bringing together talented visually impaired female cricketers from various regions.
The North Zone squad, led by Simu Das, comprises players from Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, the West Zone team, captained by Sushma Patel from Madhya Pradesh, includes players from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, as per a statement from the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI). Shailender Yadav, the General Secretary of CABI, emphasized the significance of such tournaments in providing a platform for players to showcase their skills and fostering opportunities for women in blind cricket.
Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, Chairman of CABI and Founder Trustee of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, highlighted the role of such initiatives in expanding avenues for players and fortifying the future of women’s blind cricket in India.
