The Western Railway’s Vadodara division has introduced Kavach 4.0, India’s own automatic train protection system, on the Bajwa-Ahmedabad section. This system equips all locomotives with advanced safety features to prevent over-speeding, halt trains at red signals automatically, and eliminate collision risks with other trains. Divisional Railway Manager Raju Bhadke highlighted the safety enhancements, emphasizing the significant boost in passenger safety and the ongoing upgrade of Vande Bharat trains with the latest version of Kavach 4.0.
Shedding further light on the safety measures, the DRM expressed the railway’s strong commitment to passenger safety and the development of new technologies to enhance the passenger experience. The implementation of ‘Kavach 4.0’ ATP (Advanced Protection System) between Bajwa and Ahmedabad marks a crucial step in ensuring safe travel for passengers. This advanced version of the system will be gradually extended to all types of trains, promising a secure journey for passengers by preventing collisions and ensuring foolproof safety through modern technology.
Kavach 4.0, an indigenous enhancement of India’s Automatic Train Protection system, is designed to avert collisions and enforce speed limits. This safety feature automatically applies brakes in case of a loco pilot’s non-response and supports safe operations in adverse weather conditions or poor visibility. The Railways has expedited the deployment of Kavach 4.0 across 738 route km on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah corridors, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing railway safety and efficiency.
