Mount Etna’s ash clouds forced the closure of Catania airport, preventing her return to the US for work on ‘The View.’ Joy Behar filled in for Whoopi on the show and humorously explained her absence, citing the “old volcano excuse.”
Whoopi, who was vacationing in Sicily, shared her situation in a video, highlighting the challenges of getting back to the United States with all airports closed. The volcanic activity caused travel disruptions not only for Whoopi but also for her co-host Ana Navarra, who couldn’t make it to the studio due to bad weather in Miami.
