Vijayalaxmi, the wife of imprisoned Kannada actor Darshan, lodged a complaint at the Cyber Crime Police Station against multiple social media accounts for posting offensive comments about her. She presented evidence against 15 Instagram IDs and over 150 hurtful remarks. Following the complaint, Vijayalaxmi left without speaking to the press.
Additionally, she filed a complaint at the Bengaluru Police Commissioner’s office, providing evidence of the hateful comments and account details, urging authorities to take action. The cybercrime division inspector accepted her complaint and assured appropriate measures would be taken.
Vijayalaxmi later shared an Instagram story addressing the issue and posted screenshots of the abusive comments and the associated accounts. In her post, she called out those claiming to be ‘class fans’ for their behavior and emphasized that harassment in the name of fandom would not be tolerated, revealing that police complaints had been filed against the accounts.
The police mentioned suspicions that fans of actor Kichcha Sudeep might be involved, as some accounts were linked to Sudeep fan pages or displayed his name or related stickers. The police are treating the situation seriously, noting that it has intensified the divide between Darshan and Kichcha Sudeep’s fan bases.
During a recent event for his film ‘Mark’ in Hubballi, Kichcha Sudeep hinted at a conflict during his movie release, which was interpreted as targeting Darshan’s fans. In response, Vijayalaxmi indirectly criticized Sudeep, suggesting that people are bolder in Darshan’s absence. Sudeep clarified that his comments were aimed at piracy offenders, but debates ensued, leading to a surge in hateful comments towards Vijayalaxmi. Police are conducting further investigations.
The team behind Darshan’s recent film ‘Devil’ claimed to have eliminated numerous piracy links associated with the movie. Darshan remains incarcerated at Bengaluru Central Prison in connection with a high-profile fan murder case, with trial proceedings underway.
