A woman from Kujanga in Jagatsinghpur district filed a complaint against a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer in Bhubaneswar, alleging sexual abuse. The incident occurred when she visited the officer’s official quarters on January 15 with his cousin sister. The woman claimed that the officer showed objectionable content on his laptop and coerced her into a sexual relationship when they were alone, eventually raping her.
The victim stated that the officer took compromising photos of her to blackmail her into maintaining the relationship, which she refused. Subsequently, when the photos were circulated without her consent, she reported the incident to the police. The Commissionerate Police initiated an investigation into the matter following the complaint lodged on February 19, registering a case on February 20.
Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the allegations. He emphasized that individuals would face consequences if found guilty, stressing that accusations alone would not lead to punishment.
